Haarlem has everything for a day of shopping. The car-free, monumental city center has many exclusive shops, trendy clothing stores, charming antique and curio shops and numerous specialist shops in every conceivable area. In the large shopping streets you can also find the most important (inter) national chain stores. This enormous variety gave Haarlem the title 'Best shopping city of the Netherlands' a number of times. The shops are also open on Sundays.

The most famous shopping streets in Haarlem are the Grote Houtstraat, the Barteljorisstraat and the Zijlstraat. However, the smaller, characteristic shopping streets behind it are also very worthwhile, for example the Schagchelstraat, the Kleine Houtstraat, the Anegang, the Warmoestraat, the Koningstraat and the Gierstraat. They all house special shops and specialty stores.
